Shopping Errands

My husband went to the supermarket this morning. First time this century I believe. To buy bread & milk.

What did he buy?

Wine, port, pate, a size 4 rugby ball, an All Blacks rugby shirt for our 11 y-o, & a South African rugby shirt for himself (he was born there) .... so he's covering all his bases.

Honestly, I despair...

I went to the supermarket yesterday. I took one bag with me, because I just wanted some veg, some fruit, and maybe a box or two of cereal. I came away having used the bag I took, plus 3 plastic carrier bags. That's why I miss corner shops. In a corner shop, it's easy to buy a few things. In a huge supermarket, it's almost impossible.

But I didn't buy any rugby shirts.

And - the bread and milk?

I'd love to see the dinner ladies' faces when your kids take port and pate in for lunch ;)

Yes, did he remember what he actually went for?
Maybe he's just delighted by British supermarkets after all this time. I find America a bit like that. This morning I went to buy ketchup, bread and fruit, and came back with $50 worth of stuff including half a kilo of Halloween sweets (despite Halloweeen still being 2 weeks away).

well, yes he did get the bread & milk. Credit where credit is due. I'll leave you to guess whether it was 'gold top' Guernsey full fat creamy milk or semi skimmed....
It's true, he visits supermarkets so very rarely (prob never did in Albania that I can think of) & they are so amazing here that he does get carried away, tho he's always shopped like this even before we went abroad! The rugby shirts & ball were from a sports shop next door so he didn't stick to the one shop even, never mind his list! He's a sucker for the special offers, never had those in Albania, or reward cards, or clubcard points or vouchers. I HATE them, it makes life more complicated & I always forget them anyway.

Too funny. My husband not only buys extras but buys them in bulk - and usually just before we're going away for a while meaning that we have to either stuff our faces or leave them to rot! Men!

I laughed, but I do this all the time!

I feel your pain my sister. Seven years into marriage and for my own sanity I have accepted it and secretly budgeted these strange excursions into the supermarket. I used to totally rage about it. But now, by not getting mad and accepting the beautiful craziness that I married, I think I've become a saint. Good luck to you.
